Me Date

One of the things I have started to help me on my journey toward balance is reading and participating in The Artist's Way.   For years I've heard about the book and the wonderful things it can do.  I recently decided to buy the book and see what the fuss was about.  At the same time, I joined Wild Precious, a free online artist's group, just to have some focus and inspiration.  This week they started a group for The Artist's Way, which will hopefully hold me accountable and keep me in it.  (If you're interested, it's all free, so check it out.)

The main 2 tasks of The Artist's Way are the Morning Pages & the Artist Date.  The Morning Pages are a journal where you get rid of all the extra stuff in your head that gets in the way of your creativity.  The Artist Date is where you treat yourself special and let the inner artist celebrate.

How could anyone not feel joyful in this place?

This morning I decided to treat myself to whole day of me time.  I drove down to the beach and enjoyed the warm sunshine that showed up today.  It was just magical to feel the sand under my feet and listen to the roar of the waves.  I have needed to feel the ocean's power for a while and haven't made the time to go.

Then I stopped by the Dollar General for a special treat on the way home.

  1. I need to do that more. Take time for myself. Put my metaphorical feet in the sand. ;) Gorgeous photo!

  2. You certainly do need to take time for you. I know it's got to be hard as a mom, but it will make you feel so wonderful. Even if it's just a bubble bath after the girls are asleep. You might wanna check out The Artist's Way, cause it's about creativity as a spiritual and soul affirming process, not so much about being an "artist". It's not limited to painting a Mona Lisa, and you are quite an artist, with the lens and the pen, so you might like it.

Thanks Nat! It was such a gorgeous day. I forgot to actually take a photo of my toes in the sand, which I intended to do.
